Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26 NIV

These words were spoken by Jesus when he informed his disciples that it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to be saved. To the disciples this was astonishing. It was a common belief that the rich were wealthy because they had God’s special favour. In reality, Jesus was saying that no one; rich, poor, handsome, ugly, famous, powerful or otherwise can save themselves. It is impossible! Salvation is only made possible by God. We accept the life and death of Jesus in our place and salvation is ours, not by anything we do or are. Only through God can we be restored to his image and blessed with every spiritual blessing. Only through God will we be allowed to walk streets of gold in the new home he is preparing for us. Trust him and he will do it!
