Even some Christians are adamant that the law has been done away with, since Jesus has come in the flesh, but that differs from what Jesus himself says. God is love and runs his universe by the law of love, which is the foundation of his government. It is because Adam and Eve broke that law, that Jesus had to come. He came to live the law perfectly for us, and then died to pay the death penalty that breaking the law incurred. If the law could have been done away, surely Jesus need not have died. In fact, Jesus said in John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” There are true blessings for those who keep God’s law. It brings peace, harmony and happiness to life. Aspiring to live in harmony with God every day is not a way to earn salvation but is a loving response to what Jesus has already done. God has promised that when we accept him, he will write his law on our hearts, and the blessing of peace will be ours.
