Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 NIV
When I was about 16 my stepfather started spending his time with other women. The tranquility of our home was destroyed. I began to hate him. In fact, I hated him so much I could feel him coming home 10 minutes before he arrived. One day when my stepfather and Mum were fighting, I interrupted them. Nose to nose, I screamed at him. “You B.., I hate you.” He raised his hand to hit me, and I said, ” You touch me, and I will call the police.” That night as I lay in bed, I realised that I was far from God. My heart was full of turmoil and hate and it was eating me like a cancer. I had prayed little prayers about it before but this particular night I begged and pleaded with God to deliver me and restore my peace. Eventually I fell asleep. In the morning my soul was like calm, still water. The anger was gone, and I was at peace. God had delivered me. That peace remained with me despite the circumstances. No matter what our worries or problems, we can give them to Jesus and ask for his peace and it shall be given.
