For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:9 NIV
There is a wonderful story told in Uncle Arthur’s Bedtime Stories by Arthur Maxwell of a family that came on hard times and ran out of money and food. Two ladies from the local church decided to visit and see how they were. On the way a bread truck careened around a corner, the back door flew open, and loaves of bread were scattered along the road where they walked. When the truck driver did not return the women picked up the bread and continued on their way. When they arrived and knocked on the door, they found the family praying for bread. The bread they held was God’s answer to their needs. Uncle Arthur reported that after this time things got better for the family. God loves us and cares about our physical needs. Conversely, Jesus says, ” I am the Water of Life” and also ” I am the Bread of Life” Our soul hunger and thirst can only be met by Jesus. He alone can sustain our inner life. Don’t go hungry, be filled and satisfied by the Lord today.
