Grace in Grief: When You Wonder If You’re Healing at All
Some days, it feels like you are making progress. You get through the day with fewer tears. You catch yourself laughing. You feel a small sense of peace. Then, out of nowhere, the grief returns like a wave, and you begin to wonder if you are actually healing at all.
This is normal. Healing is not a straight path. It is not always steady or visible. Some days will feel heavier than others. That does not mean you are going backward. It means you are human, and grief is not a process to complete but a journey to live through with grace.
“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.”
Psalm 37:23 to 24 (NLT)
God sees the days when you feel strong and the days when you fall apart. He is present in both. He does not count your tears as failure. He sees them as love. He does not expect you to rush. He simply asks you to keep walking, even slowly, even shakily, even if all you can do is whisper His name.
The fact that you are still showing up matters. The fact that you are still breathing and still choosing to keep going is proof of quiet, ongoing healing.
You are not where you were. You may not be where you want to be. But you are not alone on this path. God walks every step with you.
Even when you cannot feel it, healing is happening. In the small choices. In the moments of rest. In the softening of your heart.
Trust the process. Trust the One who holds your hand. You are healing, even now.
