The book of Psalms is divided into five sub books that mirror the first five books of the Bible – the Pentateuch. Ps 42 and 43 are the beginning of Book 2. Originally they were one psalm. As you read notice the repetition of the word ‘Why” (One of the great questions of Scripture). Then notice the repeated verse 42:5,11 and 43:5. “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? The answer 42:11b and 43:5 “Hope in God for I shall again praise Him.” Notice 42:7-8 First the billows then the blessing. First mourning then morning.
