Minute Meditations of Hope and Encouragement #3

Concerning salvation Jesus said, “And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life. For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life..”(John3:14-16NLT) V16 is another ‘whoever’ text (NKJV, NASB), here translated by the NLT as everyone. It’s another all-inclusive pronoun that applies to the gospel. Jesus excluded no one from His offer.

But why did Jesus say that He represented the bronze snake from the story of the Exodus as found in Numbers 22? Isn’t the symbol of the serpent always applied to the devil? Is their hope in this message? The answer is amazing!
