Minute Meditations of Hope and Encouragement #73

As was the custom, Jesus sang this Jewish doxology at the end of the last supper just before they left for Gethsemane: Psalm 117 “Praise the Lord all Nations! Extol him all peoples! For great is his steadfast love toward us; and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!” This was followed by the choral hosanna of Ps 118. NB v 5 out of distress I called on the Lord and the Lord answered me and set me free. With the Lord on my side I do not fear… v13ff I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the Lord helped me. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation… hark, glad songs of victory. .. the right hand of the Lord is exalted, the right hand of the Lord does valiantly! I shall not die, but I shall live and recount the deeds of the Lord. ” These words were sung be Jesus the night before His crucifixion!
