Reflections on Revelation #189

Reflections on Revelation Day 189. We have arrived at the centrepiece of the chiastic structure of Revelation.

Day 189.

It is time to pause and remind ourselves of a few things before entering the entire book’s centrepiece. The challenge for me has been to put this into daily 350-400 word bites. I believe that providence and the Holy Spirit inspired me into this project. I continue to pray that the trickle feed method has helped you understand this mighty piece of heavenly literature. I have received a great blessing from doing this. Do you remember the chiastic structure of the book? Revelation 11:19 – 14:20 is the centre! Revelation 12:10 – 12 is physically and spiritually the apex of the book and the peak of the chiastic (inverted V shape) structure.

Revelation 12:10-12 (RSV): 10 “And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. 12 Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath because he knows that his time is short!” Could you read it in various translations? I like the RSV and NASB because of their more literal translation from Greek. I use the NIV and NKJV but am adapting to the NLT.

Notice the dwellers of heaven rejoicing! Remember texts like Eph3:10, where it says that through the church something is being revealed to the principalities and powers in the heavens. (one great feature the KJV and NKJV have is that supplied words are italicised – the word ‘places’ is not in Greek but was added by translators to try and make sense of the text.) It will be the entire creation who will ultimately declare “Great and wonderful are your deeds O Lord God Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the ages…” REV15:3.

Hi Ross. I really enjoy and appreciate your daily devotional. I can see definitely The Holy Spirit in aal of your writings. Question, have you considered to put this in book format? I am sure that this will be a blessing to many more as it is, as you say, already a blessing to you.
