Day 60.

Have you ever noticed that churches that don’t fish fight! If God’s business is saving souls and we are not active with Him in that business how could we be comfortable with Him in eternity? When the energy that is intended to be used outside the church is used inside, the result is implosive. Instead of casting nets we cast stones. Instead of extending helping hands we point accusing fingers. Instead of being fishers of the lost, we become critics of the saved. Rather than helping the hurting we hurt the helping.

And the result? Church scrooges, humbug spirituality, banana spined dingoes with beady eyes circling for the scraps of faults on others, while ignoring the banquet of their own failings, crooked fingers that bypass strengths and point out weaknesses. No fishing, results in split churches, poor testimonies, broken hearts and legalistic wars. Sadly, the result of all this is the poor go unfed, the confused go un-counseled, the lost go un-reached, the community remains untouched, our own members become discouraged, and the weaker ones leave, the stronger ones hang in there and that makes the situation even harder, because the survivors” usually are strong willed about their traditions.

When those who are called to fish don’t fish, they fight. But note the other side of the fish tale; when those who are called to fish, fish, the church flourishes. There is nothing better for a churches case of intestinal gripes, than an outreach program. Next time you feel like complaining about something in the church go and stand in the cemetery and weigh up your complaint in the light of eternity because where they are, you soon will be. Ask your self “In the light of your mortality and in the light of eternity, does it matter?”

We are soldiers of the kingdom on a campaign in a foreign land (See 1Pet 1:17). When the trumpet sounds the entire troops rally to their posts. What’s your spiritual gift? Remember when Gideon assaulted the Midianites? I believe it’s time for us to sound the trumpet, break the pitchers and let the light of the gospel shine to those around us. I am a bearer of the last warning message to the world. Revelation 14:6-12 calls it the Three Angels Messages. I was called to warn the world that the curtain call of sin and rebellion is immanent and that The Lord Himself is about to return to this planet in rebellion. I was called to prepare a people for that day. I was called to give new birth to the lost, not to baby sit the saved.
