Whispering Eternity #64

Day 64.

All I can tell you is what I know to be true! You see life is not simply holding a good hand it is playing a poor hand well. It is not what happens to me but what happens IN me that counts most. It is not the size of the problem, but how I handle it that determines my emotional well-being. We cannot control most of the circumstances of life. We cannot determine what will come our way. No matter how daunting the circumstances of life often the greatest battle I will have to fight is that battle that rages within.

How do we fight that battle? Firstly, we must start by cultivating a right attitude, we have to cultivate a positive outlook. The people who bounce back are the optimists. But not everyone is an optimist you are saying!! Some people are born seeing the glass half empty instead of half full. But no matter what the natural bent you can become more positive! How? The first step is to learn the secret of contentment. If you learn that then no matter what happens you can weather the storm and build on the good in any situation. Contentment means that you can withstand any situation. Paul wrote tom the Philippians: “for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.” Phil 4:11.

Being content does not mean that I am satisfied with a bad situation, it simply means having a good attitude as I work my way out of it. Contentment comes from having a positive attitude that leads to positive actions. It means looking for solutions and having hope. Christianity is all about hope is it not?

If you think negatively you will do nothing and not get anywhere. It’s like playing golf with my mate Brad. What would you do after he shoots four balls in the pond in a row? I know what I used to do (apart from splitting my sides), rummage in my bag for the worst ball I had. But you know something; good golfers don’t dwell on bad performances. In fact, you will never meet a successful person who dwells on the past.
