In the 80’s I taught at a primary school near my home. Quite unawares I became a very popular teacher with children from all classes. It wasn’t because I was beautiful, had some great talent, or gave out lollies every day, it was because I took the time to help children deal with the issues on the playground. Other teachers just told the children to run along and stop being silly but I would get everyone involved and we would chat through what happened. Even when I was not on yard duty, groups of children would often seek me out and ask for help. Their problems may have seemed petty to the other teachers but to the children it was important. Fairness and justice are extremely important to children and indeed, all people. Today’s promise assures us that God has absolute integrity. We can trust him to be perfectly just when he brings us before the judgement bar of God. Put your life in his hands and he will deal honourably with you.
